Patrick Gibson Confirmed as the New James Bond in Upcoming Game

After years of speculation surrounding the next James Bond, the mystery has finally been cracked—at least in the gaming world. Irish actor Patrick Gibson has quietly confirmed his role as 007 in the upcoming video game 007: First Light, developed by IO Interactive under license from Amazon MGM Studios.

Gibson, best known for his performance in Dexter: Original Sin, revealed in a recent interview that he was working on a motion capture project in London, strongly hinting at his involvement in First Light. While IO Interactive has yet to officially name the actor, the character’s likeness and Gibson’s comments leave little doubt.

007: First Light will explore Bond’s origin story, following a young recruit fresh out of the Royal Navy as he earns his license to kill. The game marks the first major Bond title in over a decade and is set to release in 2026 across all major platforms.

With no official announcement yet on the next cinematic Bond, Gibson’s portrayal in First Light may offer fans a glimpse of what’s to come—or at least a compelling new take on the iconic spy.
