A Descent into the Labyrinth
Saber Interactive, in collaboration with Boss Team Games and under the creative direction of Clive Barker, has unveiled Hellraiser: Revival, a single-player survival horror title set within the mythos of the Hellraiser universe. Rather than retelling the events of the original films, the game introduces a new protagonist—Aidan—who opens a mysterious puzzle box known as the Genesis Configuration. This act unleashes the Cenobites and plunges him into the Labyrinth, a realm of ritualistic torment and grotesque beauty.
The narrative centers on Aidan’s journey to rescue his girlfriend, Sunny, while navigating a world shaped by pain, transformation, and the seductive pull of suffering. The story draws inspiration from the first two Hellraiser films but expands the lore with original characters and environments.

Gameplay and Mechanics
Hellraiser: Revival blends traditional survival horror with action elements. Players will face cultists, infernal priests, and otherworldly entities using a mix of conventional weapons and supernatural powers granted by the Genesis Configuration. The puzzle box functions as both a narrative device and a gameplay mechanic, allowing players to manipulate environments, unlock hidden paths, and unleash devastating attacks.
Combat is designed to be tactical and atmospheric, with scripted encounters that emphasize psychological tension. Stealth, exploration, and environmental storytelling are core to progression. The game also features dynamic lighting and high-fidelity visuals powered by Unreal Engine 5.
Return of Pinhead
Doug Bradley reprises his role as Pinhead, marking his first official appearance in the franchise in nearly two decades. His presence is woven throughout the game, with voice-acted sequences and lore-driven confrontations that deepen the narrative. The Cenobites are not merely enemies—they are manifestations of the game’s central themes, each designed with Barker’s signature aesthetic of flesh, metal, and ritual.
Creative Direction and Visual Identity
Clive Barker has been directly involved in shaping the game’s tone, visual design, and thematic structure. According to Saber Interactive, the goal is to capture “the beauty within the grotesque” and present a world that is both horrifying and seductive. The environments reflect this duality, with labyrinthine architecture, ceremonial chambers, and biomechanical constructs that evoke the franchise’s legacy.
